Our Stories:

Glenridge Middle School:

Three years ago Exploding Bacon partnered with Glenridge Middle School and Mr. Moreton, a science teacher, to form a FIRST LEGO League team in which different high school team members taught building skills, teamwork and programming to middle school students while some of the adult mentors helped with the creation of a research project. Bacon Bits, this created robotics team, started out modestly the first year by only attending one tournament, but they, being so enthusiastic, they won the spirit award. In 2007 Bacon Bits added the Lego Lions when more than 40 kids showed up to try-outs. They hit the ground running with the skills they had learned in the previous year with the addition of newly aquired ones taught by the mentors. While trying to remain in the background, they helped the students design an innovative delivery system and a fantastic presentation. They also helped them work on teamwork by focusing on Gracious Professionalism. Both teams attended two tournaments and won a bid to the state competition. There, they won 2nd place in Robot Design.

Maximum Ice:

Dear Exploding Bacon,
The team-members of Maximum Ice would like to thank you for helping us this 2008-2009 season. Your members have been nothing but nice to us. They let us in on really cool ideas and robot designs, mentor our team and lend us a helping hand when we need it. We have also made some great new friends. We would also like to thank the adults of Exploding Bacon, as well as the kids, because they have given both teams a lot of support.
                                                                                                         Thanks again,

                                                               Maximum Ice
